Emmett Newborn Photographer | Welcoming Baby Otis

Some sessions just stay with you, and this is one of them.

I’ve known Megan since we were kids, so getting to photograph her family in this season felt especially meaningful to me.

I can still picture us playing on the playground as little girls, and now our daughters are the ones becoming friends.

Life is strange and sweet like that.

And seeing Megan and Ken now… parents of FOUR!

And this time, they finally got their boy. After three girls, baby Otis was long-awaited, and you can feel it immediately walking into their home. Everyone wants a turn holding him. Everyone wants to peek at him. Everyone is just a little obsessed with him already.

And honestly… as they should be.

The Story Behind Otis’ Name

Otis is named after Megan’s grandpa, and I love that so much.

It feels timeless and meaningful without trying too hard. The kind of name that already carries history with it.

Those little details always end up meaning more over time.

Years from now, I know these photos will remind them what life looked like in this season, but also what it felt like.

The sleepy newborn snuggles, the noise, the chaos, the sweetness of everyone learning this new rhythm together.

He Looks So Much Like His Dad

Megan told me, “Otis looks so much like Ken. Especially his baby photos.”

And she’s completely right.

It’s always wild to me when babies come out already looking exactly like somebody… Same expressions. Same tiny features.

Watching the Girls Love Their Baby Brother

One of Megan and Ken’s favorite parts of this season has been watching the girls with their new baby brother.

Megan shared, “Watching how much the bigger kids love on Otis has been my favorite… even though Opal is aggressive with her love.”

Which feels like the most accurate toddler description ever 😂

The girls were excited, curious, and always wanting to be close to him.

You can already tell Otis is growing up surrounded by so much love and attention.

Adjusting From Three Kids to Four

Megan shared something during the session that I think so many moms relate to.

“I was kind of surprised at how hard it is adjusting from 3–4. Most people told me it would be super easy. While it’s not super hard, it is harder than I thought!”

And truly… adding another baby changes the entire rhythm of a house.

The days are loud and full and a little chaotic.

But there’s also something really beautiful about it.

You watch everyone slowly settle into their new places. You watch the older kids become helpers. You realize the baby already feels woven into the family, even when you can barely remember what day it is.

A Cozy Newborn Session at Home in Emmett

This session was photographed at home with a simple backdrop setup, which felt like the perfect fit for this family.

It gave us a clean, cozy space to focus on what mattered most without needing to leave home during those early newborn days.

The girls could stay comfortable, everyone could settle in naturally at home, and baby Otis got to stay right where he belongs… tucked in close with his family.

These are the kinds of sessions I love most. Simple, meaningful, and centered around connection instead of perfection.

Remembering The Newborn Days

Megan and Ken, thank you for letting me capture this season for your family.

Getting to watch your family grow through the years has been such a gift, both as your photographer and as your friend.

Baby Otis fits perfectly.

These newborn weeks are a blur in the best and hardest ways. The snuggles, the tiny stretches, the way they fit right into your arms.
